Call for Participation - Mayo Clinic Conference on Systems Engineering & Operations Research in Health Care


The Mayo Clinic is pleased to announce its third annual Conference on Systems Engineering & Operations Research in Healthcare, to be held August 18-20, 2010, in Rochester, Minnesota. The organizing committee invites abstracts for oral and poster presentations at the conference on the following topics:

  • Models for medical decision making
  • Building an Infrastructure for SE/OR in Health Care
  • Models for Cancer Screening
  • Systems Engineering in the Delivery of Nursing Care
  • SE/OR and Quality of Care
  • SE/OR Education for Health Care Organizations
  • Models for healthcare delivery
  • Patient scheduling (outpatient, surgical, etc.)
  • Workflow & staffing/resource optimization
  • Revenue and demand management for health services
  • Innovations in modeling of healthcare

Research demonstrating application of SE/OR techniques in health care settings is of particular interest, and is preferred over solely technical or theoretical work. The audience for this conference is a mix of academics in the fields of systems engineering and operations research, physicians and other healthcare providers, hospital administrators and practice managers, and engineering and operations research practitioners.

 

Authors interested in presenting at the conference should submit an abstract of no more than 500 words to the organizing committee by Friday, February 19, 2010. Abstracts should be submitted via email to mailto:[email protected]. Please indicate your preference for a) oral presentation only, b) oral or poster presentation, or c) poster presentation only. You will be notified of acceptance by March 31, 2010.
