Hi

Does anyone have experience in performing social network analysis on mobile telecommunications data. What sofware did you use? I am thinking of using the sna R package with the REvolution computing software. However, I am worried that although REvolution was developed for large datasets it will not be able to handle the large number of nodes in telecoms social networking data.

Ask o2.com (uk mobile company) they are using (idiro.com) for mobile phone social network analytics - to predict affinity groups for common services.

Hi Philip

Thanks, but idiro.com provides black box software. I need to understand exactly how the software works and how the analysis is performed and that is why I was looking at Revolution and the R sna package which is open source. I will experiment with Revolution on a smaller sociomatrix.

Should be pretty straight forward since all the data is clean. We routinely analyze 100K nodes and over 1M edges.

Hi everybody, I just joined this group and I am looking forward to the discussions. This is a great idea!

In the past, 1994-1998, I did SNA on Cisco Systems creating product support groups, and then in 1998 during my PhD-studies I learned some more foundations of SNA from Prof Stephen Borgatti at Boston Collage. After my dissertation "Conversational Realities" I taught SNA in France and at Stockholm University. Today I am a senior adviser at Springtime, one of the larger PR and communication agencies in Sweden, and working extensively with social media monitoring and digital communication. Always here to help!

Hi, everyone.  I assume that this forum is appropriate for the following offer.  If you have a structured data-set that you'd like to visualize, reach out to me for a free, no-obligation, 15- to 30-minute demo of the Sentinel Visualizer link analysis software.  I'll give you a free, 15-day trial of the software, too.
