Ed Russell replied to Vincent Granville's discussion [Poll] Which data mining/analytic tools you used in the past 12 months for a real project? in the group Polls
"I tend to use JMP for most of my analyses. Custom analyses and fitting JMP does not do natively can be implemented with scripts."

Ed Russell replied to Vincent Granville's discussion How to prevent scores from caking in scoring models?
"Take whatever ugly result you come up with originally and convert to ranks. If you want some other distribution's cute shape you can go from the ranks right to any distribution your heart desires."

Profile Information

Short Bio:
Ed has specialized in the development and analysis of large statistical models to serve as design surrogates and predictive / explanatory surrogates for complex circuit simulations and systems simulations. These surrogates greatly improve design accuracy and understanding of the properties of complex non-linear systems.

In his career, Ed has worked for AMD, Cypress, Sun Microsystems and is currently working for National Semiconductor in a variety of senior management and technical staff positions typically providing models for both "high-n, high-p" and "low-n, high-p" settings using either existing or simulated datasets to produce explanatory and predictive models.

In addition, Ed has worked in signal processing for Gulf Oil and performed sensitivity and uncertainty analysis on a complex multiple-code simulation system for Battelle Project Management.
