Read engineering and economics at Cambridge. Later qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London. Did professional and corporate work associated with management information and performance metrics. Had both operations and management accounting experience in the US and internationally. Did consulting for World Bank, the UN and others on planning and analysis of socio-economic development assistance and emergencies. Over the years increasingly appalled at the deterioration in the utility of socio-economic metrics while the underlying science and technology progresses in an amazing way. Presently engaged in development of Community Analytics ... a system of socio-economic progress and performance metrics.
I am very concerned that data overload has made modern technology unbelievably ineffective ... nobody knows anyone with any depth ... and electronic data is flowing round the globe at an amazing speed but meaning next to nothing. This has to be changed ... and it is going to be done by systems that understand how to organize data so that it has meaning and value ... like Community Analytics (CA)!
