The American Statistical Association and CHANCE magazine have debuted The Statistics Forum, a blog to provide everyone the opportunity to participate in discussions about probability and statistics and their role in important and interesting topics. The blog, which is located on the CHANCE web site at chance.amstat.org, is edited by Andrew Gelman.
"I'd really like The Statistics Forum to be the world's statistical water cooler," Gelman said. "Anyone - statisticians, scientists, teachers, students, or just interested bystanders - can feel free to comment on the blog. We hope for lively discussion."
Following is a list of some of the postings to the blog:
The views expressed in the blog are those of the individual authors and not necessarily those of the ASA, its officers, or its staff. CHANCE welcomes everyone's thoughts and opinions.
About CHANCE
CHANCE is co-published quarterly by the American Statistical Association and Springer Science + Business Media, LLC. The magazine is designed for anyone who has an interest in the analysis of data, informally highlighting sound statistical practice. CHANCE is not a technical magazine, but rather a cultural record of an evolving field, intended to entertain as well as inform. Since its creation in 1988, CHANCE has covered such topics as the 1990 census adjustment and the redesigned population survey, sports, the environment, DNA evidence in the courts, a variety of medical issues-even how to win on "Jeopardy." CHANCE offers a unique opportunity to reach beyond statistics professionals to a more general audience. Access to the magazine is open to everyone at chance.amstat.org.
