We are currently seeking a Senior Analytics Software Architect

THE LOCATION FOR THIS ROLE IS FLEXIBLE, however Sunnyvale is strongly preferred.

We are rapidly expanding our software engineering team and are looking for the most energetic & talented individual to drive and execute DDN's analytics and processing strategy. The position will be reporting to the Vice President of R&D and will be a close interaction with the office of the CIO; it requires being able to work and communicate at the executive level. Out of the box thinking, ability to work independently on numerous activities and prioritize them properly while meeting deadlines is a must. The ideal candidate must be result driven in a fast-paced environment and expert in various distributed computing, analytics platform and trends. 

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Main responsibility will be to define architecture and design our next generation analytics systems spanning storage, computer and information anaytics.
  • Work closely with all teams and successfully integrate yourself in the cross functional fabric of DDN. 
  • Communicate with clarity and focus, document all options, plans and trends both from a technology perspective supported by business and market foundation. .
  • Be able to scope and create a high level budget and recommend plans that minimize interruption while making progress towards our goals to become best in class beyond storage.
  • Present and promote the proposed plans at all levels including reporting progress at the executive quarterly business reviews.
  • Must have some externally visible passion for technology and process with an interest in the latest frameworks/libraries/tools including but not limited to MPI, Hadoop, in-memory DB & caching subsystems, NoSQL repositories, BI frameworks and solutions (R, SAS etc). 
  • Team building including help in hiring talented individuals and promoting collaborative environment.

Qualifications for this role are:

  • Must have a proven track of project leadership and hands on software development expertise. 
  • Prior experience as an research and development manager at the director level or CTO is a plus.
  • The successful candidate must already have experience in being part of an M&A team.
  • 10+ years of enterprise class software development experience.
  • 4+ years in enterprise class database/BI , storage, cloud computing or equivalent technology.
  • MS or PHD (later a plus) in computer science, mathematics / physics or comparable experience related to analytics.
  • Mastery of development lifecycle/various development methodologies, state of the art QA practices, benchmarking.
  • Hands-on knowledge of up-to-date technologies like Erlang, scala, Hadoop (MapReduce paradigm), Cassandra/HBase/RIAK/MongoDB, large scale file systems Lustre, HDFS, GPFS etc.
