Highlights of 2010 Data Miner Survey Results (735 participants)

dms.pdf : Attached are a few slides that show the highlights of the 2010 Data Miner Survey Results (4th annual survey). Last week I presented these slides, unveiling this year's results, in DC at the Predictive Analytics World conference.

Over the next few weeks we will finish writing the full report, and we'll distribute it in November.

One of the new areas the survey explored in 2010 was to ask data miners for their "Best Practices" in how they address some of the persistent challenges that data miners face:

* Dirty Data
* Explaining data mining to others
* Difficult access to data

In November we will post these "Best Practices" on our website.

Please let us know if you have any questions about this research.

Best regards
-- Karl

Tomas, this survey is independent from AnalyticBridge. Note that AnalyticBridge has about 30,000 members if you combine the different properties.

735 out of 10000 is a 7.35% participation rate. I think this is good for this type of survey, if you don't offer cash incentives. Our own popular poll posted a few days ago had a similar participation rate.

Thanks for posting, this is always an interesting survey but how come they only get 735 participants if they invite >10000 and only in AnalyticBridge there are >8000 members?
Any comments how this will affect the results?
